Thailand has in recent years moved away from being simply a sight seeing destination, and can now boast quite a range of world class sporting facilities.

Of all the sports, perhaps Golf is the best served in Thailand right now. There has been a whole host of courses developed in recent years, many of them designed by some of the world's most eminent professional golfers, such as Jack Nicklaus and other reknowned designers. As well as golf though Thailand has opened up to other pastimes in recent years. Fishing is now well and truly on the radar for many visitors, as Thailand can boast some enormous and very powerful game fish, with some specimens reaching 400lbs or more in weight. Bird Watching is also becoming popular, a wealth of National parks as well as the millions of hectares of rice paddies fruit farms and fish farms all attract a mass of birdlife, from the smallest of waders thru to fish eagles, and in the jungles hornbills and colourful birds of paradise, and Kingfishers.

Fishing Trips

In recent times, Thailand has become a world class freshwater fishing destination. Many of the species available to sports fishermen here in Thailand where not even well studied or researched until the last decade or or two, and fishing itself was considered taboo in many Thai circles. But this did not prevent some commercial fishing parks being created, which at first only contained the native Giant Mekong Catfish. These incredible fish can obtain weights of a 100kgs and more even in a few short years, consequently catching a 100lb fish is not a particularly uncommon event in Thailand's Lakes.

As well as catfish, Thailand has alway's had a large number of carp species to target. For game anglers, there is the Barramundi, and now in recent years several exotic species such as the Arapaima from the Amazon have become the focus for visiting anglers, with these fish growing to over 400lb, it's no wonder the sport fishing scene is becoming ever more popular here in Thailand.

Bird Watching

Thailand has in recent years won itself an excellent reputation for medical tourism, with thousands of visitors attending Bangkok's International Hospital's for major medical treatments and some saving hundred's of thousands of dollars in the process.
